Modern Mp3
In 1991, there were two proposals available for audio transfer.
These proposals where from Musicam and ASPEC. The Musicam system was chosen due to its simplicity and error robustness, as well as its low computational power. The Musicam format is based on the sub-band coding system and was a key to solving the basis of the MPEG audio compression format.
The first song to be transposed into MP3 was Susan Vega’s song “Tom’s Diner”. After many trials, the Mp3 was ready to go public. On July 7, 1994, the Fraunhofer Society released the first MP3 encoder. The file name .mp3 was selected by the society and the first real time Mp3 player was released in September of 1995.
